The Adventure of our Humanity
Posted April 2, 2009 by Bodhi
We were created to venture where angels fear to tread
To go beyond the limits of hell, beyond the living and the dead
To quest the places no ear has heard no other eyes have seen
To recreate the world and make our transcendental mark therein

We were formed from dust, breath and fire
To long for and fulfill all our heart's desire
Of stone and steel, of mind and feel we were made
To explore the creative intricacies of all creation laid.

To commit mistakes our nature will always be
But through all these, learn lessons will our souls see
To distinguish between the good and the bad
To discern wisdom in the combination of joy and sad.

But in the end of all our disharmony
The music of our lives, our frail humanity
Will be an orchestra in a magnificent tapestry
All our work and mistakes will all redound to God's glory.

The Wonders of the Homo Sapiens Sapiens
Posted December 12, 2008 by Bodhi
It is so appropriate to call our species homo sapiens sapiens; the one who thinks about thinking. Aside from continuous becoming because of our capacity to co-create and to unfold our creativity in the cosmos, to be able to think about thinking means the capacity to transform and metamorphose into novel and creative ways of being. In this latest stage of our human becoming, we have already discovered where we came from--the Big Bang; and we have begun to explore the universe of the very small--hadrons and leptons; sub-atomic particles and the very large--astrophysics and galaxies. And yet we are still submerged in a dangerous social cybernetic that may eventually lead to our utter destruction- like the ecological timebomb, social volcano, or nuclear annihilation. I liken this stage to a caterpillar who greedily and selfishly eats and eats all its environment to the point of destruction---then we will undergo a crisis of unimaginable proportions--a silent death--a pupal stage for all humanity---If we survive, we will all transform into a butterfly- a rediscovery of our humanity--an unending metamorphosis of one who thinks beauty upon beauty--the homo sapiens sapiens.

The Puzzle of Being Human
Posted November 27, 2008 by Bodhi
:wacko:If there were to be a planetary court case including all animal and plants indicting the human species, would we plead guilty or not guilty? While it is true that in this past 200 years, we have created human made extinctions, threatened the global climate, destroyed the forests, killed the animals, and launched wars, it is also true that in this past 200 years that we were able to discover and create so much in nature. Is humanity gift or curse, creation would ask the question. Are we going to transcend ourselves or are we going to doom ourselves? That is the question. Yet there is beauty and mystery to all this. We have come this way bringing to fulfillment all things unto its last and finest--even plotting the very genes that make our species and conquering the stars...We have often acted out of harmony. Yet hope springs eternal in the human heart. We have transcended our ape-like origins, certainly we may be able to transcend our dark passions and celebrate the meaning of being truly human.

The Most Beautiful Thing about Being Human
Posted September 30, 2008 by Bodhi
What differentiates the human being from the animals? The human being creates his environment while the animal simply lives on its environment. Depending on what you do, you create the environment appropriate for your work. When one is a farmer, he creates fields from forests. When one is a worker, factories arise. When one is an astronaut, space can even be created with spaceships and satellites. The human being is really a co-creator of God with the capacity to fulfill all creation unto its fullest manifestation. Knowledge for the human being is cumulative so that the knowledge of our earliest ancestors is passed on genetically and through society. Unlike animals where all things that they learn is lost when they die, human beings evolve rapidly through the accumulation of knowledge. The most beautiful thing about the human is that we are human becomings. We continuously recreate ourselves as we are never the same species as time goes by because we define our own beingness. We have the capacity to emerge from every mess that we find ourselves in. We are transcendent...
