The Descent after Ascent
Last week, I spoke of settling back into me after floating around the last couple years. Remember, as you encounter new things and seek to process them: it's all part of the journey: all part of the show.
A spiritual journey through life is like being in a theater. You sit in the audience watching the players on the stage. You enjoy the show, watching it time and time again. Every time you watch it, something new speaks to you or stands out. You start to hear things that call to you. However, eventually you become bored with the same old show. You start to dream of being one of the players on the stage and what it would be like. You get bored with dreaming and become restless. Some things in the show start to give you the idea that there might be more. Your eyes begin to wander around the room, and you see a curtain you never noticed before. You walk over and pull it to the side, revealing a staircase. You look around the theater, which is all you've ever known. You look at the players on the stage going on with their show. You take a deep breath and leave, following the staircase upward.

Monthly Hoopla at the Speak Easy!! Doomsday Lover, Ron Whitehead, Downtown Lights,
The Louisville Speak Easy Returns with a new home! We took a couple months off as I searched for a new location, but we return with great news! Every Thursday at 8 pm will be an open mic/arts and entertainment networking event at Carly Rae's on the corner of First and Oak st! It's a beautiful spot, with the perfect environment for a Speak Easy. Once a month, we will host a showcase with local art, a featured poet, and a featured music act followed by open stage. The awesome news is that the featured artist, poet AND musician will be paid! HURRAH! One giant leap for the open mic community! The featured artists, etc will be chosen from those that attend the open mic throughout the month.

Drawing closer to someone that has stood out in my perception for about a year now has presented me with a key, leading to moments of complete clarity and honesty begging acceptance. I've been faced with some very clear reflections about myself that were unexpected and even quite unpleasant to see, but recognizing them allowed me to release the bad information stored within me. In order to release things within us, we have to experience them or see them clearly and name them

The resulting lack of energy to a certain part of us creates illusions of need, being powerless and expecting others to provide our needs in parts of our lives. These critters' existence depends on our belief in their illusions, so they draw our attention to experiences that support their illusions, so they can continue to feed on our good energy, growing nice and fat. Over the last week, I found myself trying on different fantasies that allowed me to escape my present moment and pulled me out of alignment. Fantasies are all fine and dandy, but sometimes we encounter something that shatters a fantasy, leaving us with a reality we may be tempted to find disappointing. In the midst of wonder, I found myself face to face with a message from within.
God turned to me and said: “YOU are my fantasy.”

Watching a spider work on its web reminded me of the fiddleback spider, or the brown recluse. It's amazing how something so small can carry so much toxin and be so destructive. One small little thought that sinks its teeth into our being and quickly spreads, killing off parts of us. If left unchecked it can be fatal.

We have great truths within us, and all is being revealed. Many things are falling apart that are no longer needed and we find ourselves in new places. How can you be useful and serve in the new creation? How can you serve where you are?
Don't wait for this world to tell you what you are! Arrive and follow what you love. Shine and say “Hello World! This is what I AM!”

One: Step Right Up:
Put on a song that makes you happy.
Listen to your parents fighting.
Stare at hawks circling each other in a beautiful blue sky.
Read words of rebellion.
Read a love letter dripping with sexual overtones.
Fall asleep to the sounds of majestic waves crashing on the shores outside your window.
Read those lines again. Do it slowly. This time, be aware of what happens within you as you read them. What do you feel? Chances are you thought of a specific song. Did you feel more peaceful thinking of the hawks? Could you hear the waves?
We are everything within. What we take in or perceive in external stimuli evokes or calls forth a spirit within us. Imagine a pool of water that is still.

A couple weeks ago, Lance brought home what looked like a whole peanut butter pie. Turns out, a piece had been cut, but in his long trek from Ohio, the remaining pie had gotten soft and filled in the missing area. VOILA! A whole pie again! Upon finding out I squealed, “OH! Magic pie!”
We're much like that magic pie. It's amazing how just a little bit of time each day to ourselves to “warm our souls” can fill in the spots we've depleted. The point is to clean out all that extra stimulation so you can see your will again: your love. Having a hard time? Ask your will to show itself.
