As a determined world citizen, I embrace the new paradigm that is to come. This is one where borders come down, where race is understood as the body’s reaction to its position on the earth and the mind’s reaction to its own experiences. Greed, power, fashion and fear will no longer be a driving force. It will be compassion, confidence and sustainment of the planet. As we crawl into the driver’s seat, to take charge of our own future, we are simultaneously uniting in harmony, understanding and awareness. The process has already begun, just look around. We have seen the patterned results of war and human rights abuses…the protests are getting louder as people realize the root causes. Dismantling nuclear weapons has been brought to the table. When the forces of nature strike a population, we feel a bit of the pain ourselves. There is a massive outpouring of aid, healing thoughts and prayers. We really want to learn more about each other’s cultures, beliefs and backgrounds. More of us enjoy the experience of travel, food, clothing, music and culture from around the world. We are slowly treating our animals better and realizing how important eco-systems are. It is important to highlight the positive steps so that we can take bigger steps. As our collective mind advances to compassion, the vision of peace becomes reality. All we need to do is, make it happen.
There is a new philosophy which catches the current desire of the world today. With global warming, global starvation, global wars, etc, we need to have a philosophy that would change the world on a planetary scale. This is holism. If you can intuit and capture William Blake's message in his poem Auguries of Innocence, then you are receptive to holism and new world. The poem goes like this, "Too see the heaven in a wild flower and the universe in a grain of sand. Hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour." What is the difference between holism and wholism? Wholism means the integration of the parts into the dynamics of the whole. Holism is much more encompassing. It means that all is in all--from the infinitely small to the infinitely large. To illustrate, look at yourself in the mirror. Break the mirror into a hundred pieces. You can still see yourself in the smallest fragment as well as in the largest piece. Another illustration is the atom. Destroy the smallest atom and you will get nuclear power strong enough to destroy the largest mass.
New Paradigms New Perspectives The evolution of consciousness is basically the expansion and deepening of perspectives. ..The old modes of doing and thinking cannot anymore solve the problems of our age. We must and higher modes of living and looking at things. Holism is a new paradigm that intuits the solutions of the problems of our age. It connotes that living and non living components function as an integrative and complete whole. It considers that all things are wholes which are a part of a larger whole or holons (Arthur Koesler) It means the interrelatedness of all things, organic wholeness, non-separation of lives, the great chain of being, ecology, universal kinship. It is the unity and struggle of opposites as holons unite themselves to larger wholes and at the same time struggle their own autonomy—as of night and day, male and female, life and death, male and female. Holism holds that the universe is made up of complete integrated systems or wholes, which stretch from the micro to the macrocosmic levels. The whole is more than the sum of its parts. Everything is related to its context, hence is dependent on the whole. Process and change exceeds static stability. All parts of the kosmos form one vast , complex, inextricable whole. All is one and one is all. The creative emergence of the larger view of life signals the beginning of the end and the arrival of the new!:wink:
