Respected Deepa, it is a very good discussion acid and base that has its roots in our pH level of the body. It's real importance is:

"We live and die at the cellular level. All the cells (billions of them) that make up the human body are slightly alkaline, and must maintain alkalinity in order to function and remain healthy and alive. However their cellular activity creates acid and this acid is what gives the cell energy and function. As each alkaline cell performs its task of respiration, it secretes metabolic wastes, and these end products of cellular metabolism are acid in nature. Although these wastes are used for energy and function, they must not be allowed to build up. One example of this is the often painful lactic acid which is created through exercise. The body will go to great lengths to neutralize and detoxify these acids before they act as poisons in and around the cell, ultimately changing the environment of the cell. Most people and clinical practitioners believe the immune system is the body's first line of defense, but in actuality it is not. It is very important, but more like a very sophisticated clean-up service. We must instead look at the importance of pH balance as the first and major line of defense against sickness and disease and for health and vitality."

I do not have much idea on what enzyme therapy is all about. I am reading on it though...pretty interesting. It says it can cure insomnia too!!

I have never tried proper food combining...something that would be interesting to try for awhile.I guess you would have to get out your books and charts to see what combines well together. As a rule,I never sit down at the dinner table and eat a square meal.I graze throughout the day.All in all,I guess the key word would be "keep it simple".Digestive enzymes may also help you get the maximum nutritional value out of what you eat.Enzyme therapy is another alternative treatment for various ailments. There are digestive enzymes and there are systemic enzymes.I went the systemic enzyme route for awhile and did feel more energetic.

Hi

Thank you for the info. You are well aware of the acid-alkaline food combinations. And That’s great!! You are on the path of a healty lifestyle!

Last couple of months, I mixed milk with whey protein and had it everytime after a good work out until I bumped into the acid alkaline food chart (thanks to my constant curiosity syndrome).

To be extra sure if I was right, I looked up at different fitness forums and to my amazement, nobody - not even a single soul mentioned what you did "an alkaline internal body environment"

I have a question!! Simple, when someone combines two types of proteins together that require different internal environment to get digested in the stomach, what happens? Would it get processed by the body in an optimized way(maximum absorption of nutrients)??

How many people are aware about making the right food combinations? Why, even fitness trainers who recommend body builders to have whey protein, do not know about this!!

I have been told by folks in a health food store that hemp protein is even better than whey protein and is an excellent protein alternative for those living a vegan lifestyle.

I would say to mix it with water because an alkaline internal body environment is a sign of good health, and a goal to strive for. Also, whey is better tolerated, compared to milk, for those with lactose intolerance.Whey comes in many delicious different flavors these days, and I enjoy mixing mine with almond or soy milk, and adding frozen fruit,to make a tasty, healthy fruit smoothie.
